about
This audio piece arises from an encounter with a giant Amazon River turtle (Podocnemis expansa), also known as Arrau, on a temporary beach near the community of Horizonte, within the Mamirauá Reserve in Central Amazonas, Brazil. On a dark and quiet night, one can hear the turtle slowly returning to the waters of the Solimões River after laying her eggs on the sand.
